VAN MOPPES DIAMOND POWDERS
The Van Moppes company devotes itself almost exclusively to the design, the production and distribution of a comprehensive assortment of micron and mesh size diamond powders for all grinding, lapping and polishing applications.
Micron Diamond Powders
By definition, micron diamond powders include all fine diamond abrasive sizes below 400 mesh, which is the finest sieve used to produce diamond mesh sizes. The grading quality and batch-to-batch consistency of our micron powders have earned us a world-wide reputation, for over 60 years. Our quality inspection system is probably the most demanding system used in the micron diamond powder trade. It has widely contributed to our reputation.
The first commercially graded micron diamond powders were produced in 1942, by the former Van Moppes company in England. The initial purpose was to satisfy the requirements of the british wire industry, which had lost contact with its traditional diamond die suppliers during the war. In 1978, the micron powder business was transferred to the Van Moppes company in Geneva, Switzerland. The high quality requirements of the watch industry had caused Switzerland to become a significant user and a major producer of micron diamond powders.
Superabrasive Mesh Sizes
Later on, the company also engaged in the distribution of superabrasive mesh sizes in the grinding size range, in order to offer its customers a complete product range. Mesh sizes are also submitted to an additional optical Van Moppes quality inspection, in order to guarantee perfect delivery consistency.

ISO 9001 Certification
We were first ISO 9002 certified in 1991. In 2002 we achieved our certification to the new, customer-oriented ISO 9001:2000 Standard, followed by ISO 9001:2008 in February 2009. The main purpose of this certification is to achieve excellence in the micron diamond powder trade and maintain our “zero-defect” performance and total customer satisfaction targets.
